KEGUMS (Latvia), 15 July 2012 – The MXGP of Latvia will remain in the memories of many, especially for Antonio Cairoli, who was back on the top of the podium and recuperated the red plate, Ken De Dycker because he obtained the maiden podium of the season and Kevin Strijbos, whose last heat win was back five years ago. This weekend will be also especially remembered by Joel Roelants after obtaining his maiden Grand Prix win and Jordi Tixier for his first ever MX2 podium.

Joel Roelants (Floride Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) took his first MX2 Grand Prix victory here in Latvia after 2-1 results and Antonio Cairoli battled on bravely to secure the championship lead that he lost at the previous round in Sweden. Tommy Searle, Jeffrey Herlings and Clement Desalle all experienced problems losing valuable points along the way.

KEGUMS (Latvia), 14 July 2012 – The Latvian Grand Prix started today in Kegums with some rain early in the morning, but it was a dry day in the end. However, the MX1 riders were surprised with some heavy rain in the middle of their qualifying heat. In the end Antonio Cairoli went out with the victory, as well as Jeremy Van Horebeek in MX2.
