The Lierop circuit in the south of Holland has seen many great races in its somewhat short history. I remember my first visit to Lierop some 16 years ago in 1996. It was the day Dutchman Leon Giesbers took home the 500cc Grand Prix ahead of Joel Smets.

Back in 1993 Dutchman Pedro Tragter won Holland its last FIM World Motocross Championship when he finished 49 points ahead of Frenchman Yves Demaria. Third place in that Championship went to another Dutchman, Dave Strijbos.

Finnish rider Harri Kullas is very much a rider who has a lot to hope for in 2013. Having injured his knee at the Grand Prix of Sweden, Kullas has missed the last four Grand Prixs and will not return to the FIM World MX2 Championship in 2012.

SEVLIEVO (Bulgaria), 26 August 2012 – The Gorna Rositza track hosted today the ninth edition of the Monster Energy FIM Junior Motocross World Champion and Caleb Grothues from Australia, Brian Hsu from Germany and Tim Gajser from Slovenia became the 2012 FIM 65cc, 85cc and 125cc Junior World Champions respectively. Team The Netherlands was on the top of the podium this weekend as the winning team of this year’s edition thanks to their consistent results, team Italy was second and Team USA completed the top three.

SEVLIEVO (Bulgaria), 25 August 2012 – Day one of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship took place today in Sevlievo with really high temperatures, but all the young talents were really excited to start racing and to give their best in the qualifying time practice sessions. Raivo Dankers from the Netherlands clocked the fastest lap in the 65cc class, American Austin Forkner was the fastest in the 85cc and Jorge Zaragoza from Spain clinched the best lap time in the very last lap of the 125cc session.
