Herlings and Cairoli dominate Round 1 in the Netherlands
By Paul Malin | 09 Apr 2012

The second MX2 race got under way under cloudy skies but did not dampen the spirits of the Dutch fans. Jose Butron (17) took the holeshot but immediately lost out to Tommy Searle, Joel Roelants and Jeffrey Herlings. Searle led briefly, but could do nothing to prevent Herlings completing the pass to go and take a second race win and a third consecutive Dutch GP victory. Joel Roelants was second, Searle was third.

In MX1, Christophe Pourcel took the holeshot, but would eventually fade back to 9th.
Clement Desalle and Steven Frossard provided the fireworks in the early laps while Cairoli watched on in third.
On lap five Cairoli made a move for the front, passing both Frossard and Desalle in quick succession to record his second race win, and the overall GP victory. Desalle and Frossard rounded out the podium in second and third respectively.
