Evgeny Bobryshev interview

Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev enjoyed his home Grand Prix two weeks ago and despite not finishing on the podium he knows he will be back to top form before the season is over. The Honda Factory rider scored fifth place overall and was happy to see so many of his fans come out and watch the action.

After a really tough season of injuries and less than spectacular results, Bobryshev is starting to feel better as his body recovers and his confidence begins to grow. With GPs to come in Czech Republic, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Italy and Germany there is every chance we might see the tall Russian rider back on the podium before the season is finished.

We caught up with Bobryshev last weekend as he helped Stefan Everts in his charity event.

Q: Evgeny, so how was it being back in your home country?

Bobryshev: It was good, but the travel was very tough, we got stuck in the border for 11 hours. Tbut hen we had a good two days at my home, we looked around my city and then a bit of training. It was a lot of fun; it was really nice to be at home for two days.

Q: Many people said the Grand Prix of Russia was really well organized. What was your opinion?

Bobryshev: When we went to the Grand Prix we were impressed with the organization, and many people were cheering me on. It was a pity we had rain on the Saturday, but Sunday the track was really difficult and nice to ride. I was also happy with my results - 6th and 5th and overall 5th - and that is okay. I didn't have any big crashes, which I was happy about, so no injuries.

Q: How was that to suddenly be the rider everyone wants a piece of? Did you have much stress or pressure?

Bobryshev: I didn't have a problem with stress, everyone was pulling me and asking for autographs, but I liked it because they were my fans. At the end of the day I was totally wrecked, I went to my bed and just went straight to sleep.

Q: After your fifth place in Russia, can you come back to your best form, like in 2011?

Bobryshev: It's not easy coming back after all the injuries I have had this year. The speed is good, but my confidence is low and I need to get that confidence back. I am slowly coming, like I said I was happy with 5th place in Russia and now I want to come back again to a better pace, maybe in Loket, or England.
