Official presentation of the MXoN Team Italy in Faenza

During the MXGP of Europe the Italian Federation took the opportunity to present the team that will represent Italy at the 66th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, which will take place in Lommel, Belgium, during the 30th September weekend. The Team manager Thomas Traversini presented Antonio Cairoli, Alessandro Lupino and Davide Guarneri to the national an international media as the members of the Maglia Azzurra team.

Thomas Traversini said: “I’m confident with the team we have and the races in Lommel are very strange, but the three of them know well how to ride on the sand. It is going to be tough but my goal is to give support to the three riders to do their best because I’m sure they can do a good job. The Nations is just one day and last year we had very bad luck with two riders out already in the first race, so the race was over. We hope we don’t have such luck this year.

Antonio Cairoli, who will ride in the MX1 class, added: “I’ve always made some mistakes at the MXoN, but if you crash in Lommel you can still win the race. My goal is to finish in the top five and I believe we can do it.”

The MX2 rider Alessandro Lupino admitted: “I’m very happy to be in the team again and I have more confidence now. I know it is going to be a hard race, but I know I can be consistent without making mistakes.”

Davide Guarneri, who will represent Italy in the Open class, ended by saying: “We’ve had always good luck on Saturday and bad luck on Sunday, so we need to stop this. I don’t want to think that we have lost before going there, I want to believe that we can do a good race. I will start the race for a podium finish and I will give the 110% and at the end of the race we will see the results.”
