The MXoN effect is still alive
By Marionna Leiva | 04 Oct 2012

It has been almost a week that the MXoN has been celebrated, but everybody who was present at the event and those who watched it from home are still feeling the MXoN effect. The main topic of all the media, fans and social networks is still the successful and unforgettable 66th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, where Team Germany was on the top of the podium in front of the 65000 spectators.

Before this year’s edition there was a lot of expectation for the event, especially to see if Team USA would revalidate the trophy racing against sand specialist like Jeffrey Herlings or Antonio Cairoli among others. In the end, the Americans did an excellent job, but they were not able to equal the German and Belgian’s performance, that were first and second respectively. Besides, all the public was able to enjoy the incredible talent of MX1 and MX2 FIM World Champions, Cairoli and Herlings, racing on the sand, as well as the former MX2 FIM World Champion Ken Roczen, who all went back home from the event being also the individual winners of their class.

The 2012 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations protagonists had the honour of meeting personally the HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium and Duke of Brabant after the podium ceremony. Prince Philippe arrived in Lommel right after the second race and he met Mr Giuseppe Luongo, Youthstream’s President, Mr Vito Ippolito, FIM President, and Eric Geboers, former MXoN rider and 2012 MXoN organizer. HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium and Duke of Brabant enjoyed watching the final heat of the MXoN, gave the Chamberlain Trophy to the winners and he then met personally all the protagonist of the event.
